Malaya Initiative Foundation was established in 2025 by a team of individuals with deep ties to the Philippines and a shared conviction: that the education crisis gripping the country is solvable — and that focused, evidence-based investment can unlock a generation of critical thinkers, clear communicators, and engaged citizens.
The word malaya means freedom in Filipino (Tagalog). We chose this name deliberately. Education is not just a social good — it is the single most powerful instrument of individual liberation. A child who can think clearly, communicate effectively, and participate meaningfully in civic life is a child who is truly free.
